First Responders Event

October 2-3, 2021, Underwood Family Farms in Moorpark CA invited the US Coast Guard Auxiliary to celebrate alongside local First Responders! They invited all those that work with them throughout the year to celebrate a weekend with their farm visitors. Joining the Auxiliary were Ventura County Fire, the VC Sheriff’s Department, EMS, department of Public Health, Search and Rescue and much more!

The farm was transformed into a giant Pumpkin Patch, Pick Your Own & Fall Harvest experience filled with games, rides, photos ops, live entertainment.

The event helped benefit the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department Explorers program, Foundation and Search and Rescue Programs, Ventura County Fire Department’s Widow’s and Orphan’s Fund, VIPS, K9s and more. There were demos from the Bomb Squad using their Bomb Robot, K9s and the Mounted Unit and a special appearance from the Air Unit!

Public Affairs Mission

USCG Auxiliary Public Affairs mission: Save Lives! Auxiliarists greeted over 200 kids with candy and explained the value of wearing Life Jackets and keeping the lakes and oceans free of trash and plastic. Parents were offered information on the California Boater Card, Safe Boating Classes, Recreational Boating Safety tips, and volunteer opportunities to join the Auxiliary. Eight Auxiliarists worked staggerd shifts and served 54 combined hours over the two day event. Lives Were Saved by providing Recreational Boating Safety and Environmental Protection information during the community relations event!
