Alcohol continued to be the leading known contributing factor in fatal boating accidents. 75 percent of fatal boating incident victims drowned. Effective: January 27, 2023 BOATING SAFETY APPLICATION FOR SMART PHONES The Coast Guard Boating Safety application has allowed smart phone users on the Apple and Android mobile operating system platforms to input a profile, email a float plan, review safety equipment requirements, and obtain emergency assistance, as well as other features.
