Boater Safety Class January 2022

Saturday/Sunday January 29-30, 2022 (8:30 AM -12:30 PM) Your local Coast Guard Auxiliary will be hosting an online boater safety class. The 8 hour course will qualify participants for obtaining their permanent California Boaters Card. 2020 Recreational Boating Statistics

In calendar year 2020, the Coast Guard counted 5,265 accidents that involved 767 deaths, 3,191 injuries and approximately $62.5 million dollars of damage to property as a result of recreational boating accidents. There is evidence that boating activity rose significantly during the pandemic, from reports of increased boat sales, insurance policies taken out, insurance claims, and calls for towing assistance. Amateur Radio Boaters Net

The Southern California Boater’s Net (SCBN) operates every Sunday morning at 0900 PDT on the PAPA System repeater network (http://www.papasys.com). The purpose of this net is to provide information to mariners who are ham radio operators and to facilitate communication between boaters, friends, and family. First Responders Event

October 2-3, 2021, Underwood Family Farms in Moorpark CA invited the US Coast Guard Auxiliary to celebrate alongside local First Responders! They invited all those that work with them throughout the year to celebrate a weekend with their farm visitors. California Coastal Clean-up

September 18, 2021 California Coastal Cleanup Day was first organized by the Coastal Commission in 1985.  September is Coastal Cleanup Month. The aim is to remove the trash and plastic pollution at beaches and waterways throughout the state. In 2019, more than 74,000 volunteers picked up more than 900,000 pounds of trash from beaches and waterways throughout California. Close to 17,000 Californians participated in a neighborhood cleanup during September 2020, preventing over 150,000 pounds of trash from Read more…
